Business Central lists Essentials at $80 and Premium at $110 per user a month, paid yearly1, roughly half the per-application price of Dynamics 365 Finance or Supply Chain Management.

Best for: Mid-sized companies, or subsidiaries, whose ECC use is mainly finance, distribution and straightforward production, and that want a published price.

Not the right fit for: Large, multi-site manufacturers with complex costing and planning.

What it covers

Manufacturing requires the Premium experience and covers production BOMs, routings, work and machine centres, production orders, capacity, subcontracting and production costing, connected to supply planning, inventory, warehouse management and quality management2.

The Sales Order Agent

The agent monitors a mailbox, reads customer requests and attachments, identifies the customer by email address, checks availability and prepares a quote or order; designated users review every outgoing message, and use is billed in Copilot Credits3.

Strengths and limits

Strengths

  • Published per-user prices at a fraction of enterprise ERP licences.
  • A documented AI agent in production use, with every outgoing message reviewed by a person.
  • Production, inventory, warehouse and costing in one ledger on Premium.

Limits

  • Smaller in scope than ECC; complex costing and planning may not fit.
  • Agent use is billed in Copilot Credits.
  • Implementation cost is not published.

Choose another option if: You run large, multi-site manufacturing (Dynamics 365, Infor LN).

Pricing

List prices per user a month, paid yearly: $80 Essentials, $110 Premium, $8 Team Members.

Questions to ask a Business Central partner

  • Which of our ECC processes would not fit Business Central's scope?
  • What does implementation cost for our entities and interfaces?
  • How many Copilot Credits would our order volume use?
  • When would we need Dynamics 365 Finance and SCM instead?
